Vehicle Carbon Footprint Calculator:

This calculator takes into account CO2 emissions that the car produces both a direct and indirect way. In the case of electric vehicles, the indirect ones are the emissions of electricity production, its transport to the charging station and electricity losses during the charging itself. For the convenient vehicles, the direct emissions are the ones from the burning of the fuel. The indirect costs are emissions generated from the oil extraction, processing into petrol, diesel, LPG or CNG and its transport to petrol stations.

The carbon intensity of crude oil production is rounded to an extra 27% of CO2 emissions on top of fuel’s own emissions according to an article of Mohammad S. Masnadi. Emissions generated from fuel-burning itself are computed according to U.S. Energy Information Administration.

The CO2 emissions per kWh produced varies by country. As a source we used electricityMap. According to various sources, the loss from electricity transmission, vehicle charging and battery self-discharge account to 32% on top.
